AUVSI has been providing high quality services to the unmanned systems sector since our founding in 1972. AUVSI is a truly international professional and trade association with head offices in the Washington DC area, alongside many other international organizations’ headquarters. The Association has members and member groups all around the world. AUVSI’s purpose is to promote unmanned systems through communication, education and leadership. AUVSI’s vision is to be the indispensable partner to all members of the global unmanned systems community.
AUVSI seeks to maintain the highest professional standards in all its activities. The Association is constantly improving its governance arrangements to deliver efficiency, effectiveness, economy and equity. Its employs best practice strategic management techniques, which are exercised annually, as part of formal strategic planning, but also on an ad hoc basis to deal with new imperatives arising from the very rapidly developing unmanned systems sector.
AUVSI seeks to serve both corporate/trade members and individual members. For both categories a wide range of services exist and more are in development. Please see the main AUVSI website, www.auvsi.org, for full details. The Unmanned Systems Institute, founded in 2004, is designed specifically as a service for individual members. The Institute acts as an impartial and objective academic body within AUVSI, focusing on intellectual, technical, analytical and educational matters. Please refer to the Activities pages for further information.
The Institute is established within AUVSI by a Charter. All members of the Institute have to be members of AUVSI, and are members in their own right as individuals, even if they are nominated as part of a corporate membership group. Individuals wishing to become members of the Institute need to demonstrate their suitability. Full details are given in the Membership section. Since the Institute seeks to maintain the highest professional standards in all its activities and to act with objectivity and impartiality, the Institute expects all its members to comply with a basic Code of Conduct.
