INTRODUCTION
The next International Telecommunications Union (ITU) World Radio Conference takes place in October 2007 (WRC07) and subsequently in 2010/11. At present there is no bandwidth allocation for the operation of civil and commercial UAVs. The Unmanned Systems Institute is leading the AUVSI participation in preparing a bid for sufficient bandwidth to be allocated.
The United Kingdom Civil Aviation Authority hosted meetings and prepared some initial estimates for potential bandwidth requirements. Please examine the content of the Bandwidth Charts section and provide comments and additional content. We are also seeking estimates of the Aircraft Densities to use for the different phases of flight. Please note that both military and payload bandwidth requirements are deliberately excluded from this work.
